Turkey meat balls and coconut green curry

Ok so I have been talking about doing this for a while now and here it is!!! I will try to do at least one blog post per week with occasional video posts! Today I saw a picture of some food on pintrest and it made me think of two of my favorite Thai dishes and how genius it was to combine the two. So I did! First we will be making turkey meat balls
here is most of what you will need with a few additions of some things I forgot
(this is my first post I will get better)
First put the turkey into a mixing bowl.

Second smash and chop the garlic ( I am really trying to give step by step instructions and photos here, so bare with me because sometimes written instructions can get a little confusing) Then add it to the turkey.

Use the back of a spoon to scrape the skin off of the bottom inch of ginger.  Then cut the part that you have scraped off and chop it up and add it to the turkey as well.

Next Chop Red peppers, Green onions, cilantro and add to the turkey mixture.

Crack egg into a small bowl.

Lightly beat the egg.

Now add egg, bread crumbs, sriracha, garlic chili sauce, and seasoning sauce. Combine thoroughly with your hands then let rest for 10 minutes or so in the fridge.

Next take a 1oz scoop or spoon and roll turkey into balls.

Heat olive oil in a heavy bottomed pan then start adding meatballs to the pan making sure not to over heat the pan. cook in 2 or 3 batches depending on the size of your pan.

Put the meat balls in a 300 degree preheated oven until finished with the curry about 15-20 minutes.

Once you have removed the meatballs you will be left with some excess oil. Drain it and you will be left with about 1 tablespoon of oil.

Chop the onion and add it to the pan now turn the stove back on to medium.

Repeat the same steps with the garlic and the ginger then add them to the pan and cook for a few minutes.
Add green curry and let it brown for a minute. Then add rice wine vinegar, seasoning sauce, and garlic chili sauce.

Add chicken stock, lime juice, coconut milk, chicken base, and tamarind soup mix.

Now here’s where I get real fancy ( I am a mother of 2 after all) I buy this brown rice. It is a staple in my house! Brown rice just takes a while to cook and this takes 2 minutes! but by all means if you want to cook your own do.

Chop green onion and cilantro to garnish.
To plate-  Put rice in the bowl, next add the curry, put in meat balls in, last but not least top with green onion and cilantro

or
Pacific Market is located at 6750 Ne Broadway st Portland, Or ( right off of Halsey)
Pacific Market is a little cheaper
Enjoy!

  1. I love your hint of scraping the ginger before you chop it. I'll try that. This sounds delicious and now I want it for lunch. If you were a good niece, you would bring me some.
